My husband and I love to go to renaissance fairs and we have been to several different ones. The basic idea is that it takes place out in a secluded (usually woodsy) area, with buildings that look like they are from the renaissance. There are actors/actresses, medieval shops (with real wares you can buy), lots of good entertainment like joists, comedians, jugglers, parades, etc. The people who are more into it wear costumes from the time period. And you will want to bring a camera to capture all the neat stuff. There are plenty of websites and images on renfaires -just google them. You can usually spend a good day at a fair if it is a big one. The smaller ones can be kinda lame, though, so ask your friends if they have been to this particular one before. Some people camp nearby, instead of staying at a hotel. There is alcohol there too - ale mostly. There are things for children to do at renfaires but kids are not too prevalent, so it's not like an amusement park or something. Anyway, check it out! It's only about $15-$25 for a day.

Yes, they're lots of fun. People dress up in old styles (from the REnaissance days). They put on shows. Even some of the fair goers get dressed up. It's like going back in time. Loads of fun!
Not sure what you mean by spiritual. The one I've been to has a fortune teller that you can see if you want or not. Other than that, it's light, happy fun.

Yes love them. to join go to SCA site or any reenactment sites that way you can see if they have one in your area. or check your local parks and recreation calender and they will tell you who will be at there renaissance fair and that way you can meet them before joining. They are a group of people who love history and rein act that way of life along with teaching others how. If the group douse not cover those areas beware they mite not have your best interest at hart and just wont your money. They must be willing to teach and help you.

You would have so much Fun! Men and Women dressed in costumes from the Medieval Times, loads of good food and drink, and a variety of different shows.
I had a guy run up to me as I was going to the restroom, and start yelling..."The Privy! The Privy!...she's got to go to the Privy!"
Go...Have Fun, you can dress up too, it's a lot of fun going as a group too, we had a blast.
Spiritual things happen everywhere...you never know!
