It sounds like you may have injured the ligaments/muscles in your shoulder. You could've "sublaxated" it which is when the shoulder doesn't completely come all the way and goes back in. Like another user said, if you've been hurt this long, there is a good chance you now have frozen shoulder. That is when the shoulder tightens up and the muscles refuse to losen. Get yourself to a doctor and they can help you.

Sounds like you injured the shoulder and maybe the tendon along with it.
My fear is that it's progressed into Frozen Shoulder. Not a fun thing to have or to get over.
Go to your doctor and have him take a look. Tell him of the limited movement and any and all pain you have with it. He should suggest 1) an x-ray, 2) an MRI of it. One of the two or both.
I had to go through 3 months of Intense Physical Therapy to get over it and like you, I couldn't raise my arm above my waist. I couldn't even wash my own behind with that hand it hurt so bad.
I laugh now, but it wasn't funny at the time.
When/if they put in physical therapy, remember that the shoulder moves in 4 different directions and should be excised in all four.

No if it was disloated - you wouldn't be able to move it at all - you injury sounds like a extent of two injuries:

■ You have badly bruised the muscle surrounding the bone, and it will be tender and sore while it heals.

■ You may have pulled a tendent - or worse ripped it.

To put your worries at end all I can suggest is you see a doctor for an x-ray, however it does sound like your shoulder will get better with time.

Go to the hospital!!! I had a nasty horse riding accident 4 years ago. Instead of breaking my collar bone, the whole thing got shunted over to one side and now my arm bone (not a technical term) is no longer properly connected to my collar bone. I had to keep it immobile in a sling for 2 months and then had months of physio to get the mobility back. It will never be right and I've lost a lot of strength, but at least I still have the use of my arm. Please don't leave it any longer.

yeah, you probably need physical therapy...i had a dislocated shoulder as well as fracture on my arm from a car accident a couple of years ago... it is EXTREMELY painful and you wouldn't be able to move it even an inch if it were dislocated.
