Well.....the answer is 'Love'...n....'reputation'...
Some men put up with house abuse...b'cos they love their partner...they are afraid that they will hurt their partner if they retaliate...
some also put up with abuse b'cos they wish to manage their reputation....and they do not wish to break up their family...

Battered husbands are more common as a result of woman nowadays are more dominant due to the changing world. They are more independent cos most of them are working and can support themselves. They dare to fight for their rights and no longer submissive like decades ago.
