She is a BLANKIE baby so I would hate to take it from her....but I worry she will not get enough air.

I once caught my daughter rolled up in a blanket with just her little feet sticking out, not moving, and I thought for 10 awful seconds she had killed herself... no, she was sound asleep. But I swore I would never again let her have a blanket (at least not as a baby). She wears a pyjama and then she's zipped into a 'gigoteuse', french word for a little baby sleeping bag. I know friends from the States who have used the same, we swear by them to avoid the same problem you have. Think about it!

PS Here in France they say no pillows and no sheets until 18 mths to reduce SIDS.

My son has always been a blankie baby as well, he loves his blanket and pulls it into his face everytime he sleeps. He will not sleep without it. He has been doing this since about 4 mths. I figure, if he can pull it up in his face he can take it out also. I never give him really thick blankets. I always try and breath through the materal first. He's 10 mnths now and is just fine. (we also have the angelcare monitor, it has a sensor under the matress, if he stops breathing an alarm will go off, it's an added comfort).

My daughter scared me by doing this as well. Luckily my neighbor made her a crochet blanket which became really the only blanket she sleeps with now.

Therefore if she pulls it over her face, she can still breathe.
try something more lightweight, like crochet blankets- or the nice summer fleece blankets.

It's hard because at 4 months I would think the baby is out of the whole swaddle thing.

Other option is you can put her in something called "Sleepsack & Swaddle Blanket". Check it out in the babies r us website. I also have 4 mo and i just started putting her in it. it feels like a blankie.... and you don't have to worry about it going over the lil ones face.

my daughter (6 mos) has done that almost since birth. Just keep a close watch on her. and once she's fallen asleep, just pull the tip away from her nose/mouth.
She's pulling it close to her because she's a snuggler, have you tried rocking her to sleep?
Make sure the lights aren't bothering her. You could also try switching it out for a stitched blanket with holes.

Good luck and God bless!!

My son does that and he is 6 months.. I put the blankie under his arms.. If that doesn't work everytime she puts the blankie over her head tell her no and show her where. Kids are very very smart.

Hope this helps!

My son does it too.I gave him a crotched blanket That way if he does pull it over his head there is still holes in it. You could also try a very light weight receiving blanket (like the ones from the hospital)or light weight fleece one. If she can pull it off her head with out your help she should be ok.But if you scared just put her a warm outfit on.

Please take the blanket away from her. My daughter passed away frim SIDS. They recommend no blanket in the cribs with babies. The halo company make "sleep sacks" you can put her in. They work really well and cannot get pulled over her head. They go on kinda like the komono's do and they are 19 bucks. they are approved by the sids foundation.

If she knows how to remove items from her face, I would say it is okay to let her hold her blankie.

My twins began sleeping with their blankie at 6 months. But only because they knew how to remove something from their face.

It depends on what you think is best for your daughter and your peace of mind.

Hope this has helped you.

Next time you go to bed pull the blanket over your head and go to sleep. If you wake up the next morning you will see there is nothing to worry about.
