You need not go "anywhere". Remember your worst high school teacher and how well you tuned her out - repeat performance!
Can you invest in an MP3 player and plug in whenever she gets alittle over the top?
Is there a particular area at your workplace that is pretty, entertaining or otherwise peaceful? Just don't go to smoke.
Or try just getting yourself a cup of coffee or a soda and walk around a few minutes.
You're right - negativity is contagious. Keep her at arm's length, both professionally and personally.
