did we not learn anything from Nazi Germany in WW2. Never spread your troops to thin trying to fight on too many fronts. Bush is getting desperate for a military victory to salvage the republican party so he might try.

Not necessarily an invasion but we must stay on top of the situation. Previous administration foreign policy as it related to North Korea was an obvious failure. That is why we are facing what we are today.

The United States (and the world) has yet another opportunity to see if the United Nations has the ability to do the right thing for the good of the world. I am doubtful but try to remain optomistic now that Kofi Annin is out of there. The UN has been disfunctional for so long a lot of people have lost hope for it.

The real answer and resolution in North Korea lies in China, South Korea and Japan. They (with support from the rest of the world) must deal with Kim Jong Il just as anyone would do with a bad neighbor in their neighborhood.

And don't think that Iran isn't watching how the world deals with North Korea. If Kim Jong Il is allowed to have a nuclear program, Iran will follow suit in very short order. This all while nuclear proliferation in eastern Asia is 'full steam ahead'. Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwain will all be ramping up their arsenals.

PS, Professor Science's 'fairness' mentality will wind the dooms day clock spring so tight it will probably break.

No. Theres no purpose of invading North Korea unless they started a war with other countries. North Korea is an impoverished country and ruled by a tyrant. Let the Koreans decide for themselves.

Only if Russia and China where to sacrifice their troops fighting in it.

So no. China and Russia have said no to a military intervention.

Clearly it would be better to learn from history and use a policy of containment for a few years until the Americans get a President with intellect and wisdom. Then the global community will be able to discuss and negotiate a grown up solution to the problem.

If you want to see a military escalation that could quickly turn nuclear, then be prepared to be nuked yourself.

China and Russia have thousands of nukes and can retaliate. I do not believe they would want this, but, even without using nukes, China could switch off the American economy overnight. If your President gets on his high horse again, China could increase the costs of its products to America and dump it's dollar reserves thus creating an economic bomb that would make the 1929 crash look like a picnic. How would your vast military fight, when you cannot pay the troops? Or pay the military contractors to make ammunition? Those military contractors will then be seeking customers elsewhere, YOU ENEMY'S money is just as acceptable to the multinational weapons manufacturers as yours is.

I do not believe anyone would really want that to happen.

We live in a world that is desparately seeking grown up diplomacy from America and is given childish, cowboy grandstanding instead.

I was born in South Korea, and then adopted. I think the North Korean people are suffering and that something needs to be done. I don't think invading is the answer. Look at the middle east.

NO! Yeah sure you people start talking about your stealth technology and um..." bombing them to the stone ages"
but it won't work. They are not the right group of kids for
you bullies to pick on at the moment. Nor is Iran. You know what
happens when a bully invades a group of countries right? Its not
a little bombing mission that you are done with and you nuke them once or twice and watch American idol. North Korea
has friends. The U.S is losing them fast because they are repeatedly bullying the international community. Sure some idiots think its as simple as dropping a bomb. Look at Iraq carefully.
sure the U.S is doing well but they are not finished with a little band of rebels. Kim Jong Il does not care if you guys "nuke"
him he does not care if his people are killed because he is intent on causing as much pain to America as possibe. Just because it worked for Japan does not mean that a nuke has become your life line. The Japanese gave up because they did not want to
see their people die. Kim does not care. If the U.S were to invade first and drop an atomic bomb it will anger them further until
3 year olds are brainwashed to grab a butter knife or pistol and kill a coalition force soldeir.Japan was expeceting it and did not blame the U.S because Japan attacked first.

No, I figure the Chinese will engineer a coup and install a more pliable government there in any case. The don't want the North Koreans making nuclear bombs because it gives the Japanese a good excuse to start making their own.
