Whrether it's right to skip him, or wrong, the real question is "who has the power to decide?". Parliament could pass an Act about it, which would be law if the Queen signed it. If they wait till she dies, they're sunk, because after the monarch's death, Parliament does not exist until the next monarch re-opens it. So before that, you have to know who the next one will be. At present, it's Charles, and he has no legal way to skip it, either before Her Majesty's death or after.

Skip to Charles? Who do you think comes between Charles and Elizabeth? He is her oldest son, so he is heir to the throne. But he may not choose to be known as King Charles. When the monarch assumes the throne, he can choose what he wants to be called. Queen Elizabeth's father (Charles' grandfather) was known in the family as Albert until he became king, when he chose the name George and was crowned as King George. So Charles may choose something other than his baptismal name. Of course, the royals have about eight baptismal names, so they have a fair selection right there....

If the Queen lives as long as her Mother then Charles will already be of retierment age by the time he is put on the throne. I say pass the crown onto William. We need someone younger and I cant stand the thought of Camilia being the Kings wife.

There are strict laws that rule accession. The next monarch, on the assumption that he is alive at the present queen's death will be Charles who will become Charles III.

Prince William should be king. Charles only claim to being king is his royal birth. He has shown he lacks many of the other requirements.

Charles, who has said he will plan to take the throne. He won't use his own name, though. At Elizabeth's request, he will be King George VII (for his grandfather).

It is right and proper to skip Charles. I doubt that they will allow him to head the Church of England, not with his past. But one does wonder, will they insist on blood tests for the young princes? Are they really Charles'? Probably not important. The big key was that they were Diana's. She truly was of Royal lineage. The other side is very questionable (including Charles.)

For those who get snippy about that, think: they get paid simply for who they claim to be, what their blood is. Isn't it time they are tested to make sure of that?
