I'm not femme or flaming. I'm quirky but closer to common. So why do girls fawn over the flaming gays rather than the common variety? Even guys seem to like them better. Should I look for guys friends [assuming more guys would prefer the nonflaming gay] or just gas it up and flame on?
[I really can flame, but it takes a lot of energy.]

Every girl is looking for that fashionable, sweet, in-touch-with-his-feelings guy. Not many, if any, straight guys add up to this. So, a lot of women go for the femme gay man as a substitue. Its like having a girlfriend with a penis. *shrug* I don't know what the men's excuse is.
Don't change who you are just to get friends. I always preferred hanging out with the more common-ish gay guys, myself. It means I don't have to worry about them staring at my chest AND they were usually more useful when trying to get some guy to stop hitting on me by pretending to be my bf. ^_^ I miss my old friends... Just look for the kinda friends that accept you for you, through commonness and rare moments of flamey-ness.

Trust me darling, not everyone likes the flaming guys.
Some girls just want a male girlfriend.
I'm bi, so no one assumes I'm gay when they meet me. So I kind of prefer the company of other gays that aren't trying so hard, if you know what I mean.

I think it's important for people to be themselves if a friendship is going to have any substance. That said, fabulous gay men are louder (more approachable) and more fun. Personally, I'm introverted as all hell, but I understand the draw to an extreme extrovert.

honey don't try to be something you're not. We like flaming gay guys because they're good girlfriends and most of them have the most hilarious attitude. One of my closest friends is a flamer but even if he wasn't I'de stiil love him the sam,e.
Do not try to be something you're not if you're gauy and proud show that in a way that you're comfortable and if you're not comfortable with showing it be conservative theres nothing wrong with being conservative.

If i were you i'd be myself!! nobody wants to be around someone who is fake.
flamers are just so much fun, there like big balls of energy and always the life of the party.Like you say it takes alot of energy! I can't speak for all of us girls but me myself, I have a best friend that is a flamer. And he totally rocks! and i wouldn't have him any other way!!!!!!

It's because they are not threatening to anyone. Girls don't have to feel like the feminine gays are going to be trying to get in their pants and guys are not afraid of them trying to steal their girlfriends or get involved with the women they are interested in.

datcreek and Suraya have great answers- flaming guys tend to be so outrageous and outgoing and super high energy, so they are generally fun to hang out with because they are so up and positive all the time.

lol...just be yourself hun! the flamers are alot of fun to hang out with....go shopping with, they have great clothes style fashions and are into expensive name brand things like most women are. And a women can tell her bf that she is going shopping or out to eat with a flamer and not have to deal with the bf flipping out and being all jealous and crap. they are just alot of fun...they are like girls...only in a mans body...

Actually I think people like people who are just being themselves and people that are comfortable with who they are. You are noticing a trend because you choose to see it not because it prevails. When youare happy and confidant people naturally like you, so just work to be those things rhater than altering your true personallity.
