I have no kids, and I want to leave some assets to my nieces which is close on half my estate. If I do this, my wife will still be left with plenty, even though she does not need it.

It's your will...do whatever you want with it. Leave what you want, to whom ever you want. This is your way of repaying kindnesses in your life, not some lottery for your wife...you are not cheating her out of anything.

It is really up to U.If U feel Ur nieces need some taking care of then leave plenty to them.
Ur wife would go off marrying some other rich guy in no time.

This is a question you should discuss with your wife. If she does not need to get everything then you could both decide to give the nieces some of it. But in California it all goes to the spouse first.

Your wife gets your assets tax free. It is better to leave your assets to other family members.

YOu may leave your assets to your wife, parents and niece. You really need to decide it yourself. Do you have parents who need financial help. What about siblings who can do with some help.

If you feel too guilty, make her your executor of the estate and have her settle it up to the nieces and nephews...

Your wife might get P.O.d but you will be gone anyway and besides you know you cant take it with you so who cares who gets what anyway! Its all material and its not what life is about so do what makes you happy as far as your will. Like I said you'll be gone anyway so if they all get upset its really their problem and not yours.
