One of my favourite things to do on chrissy eve was driving around and seeing everyone's Christmas decorations. We always play lots of card games and do a big puzzle, maybe watch a movie with the whole family, just enjoying each others company. We even used to make christmas goodies and deliver them to the neighbours. At our house, a special present always appears under the tree on Christmas eve...most years it is a game for the family to play, but last year it was a movie we could watch together. On christmas day, we will open the presents, visit some of the friends, there will be a family get together. My mom is an excellent cook. So there will be the traditional turkey and hams plus a delicious home made cake. She will also try out new recipes. We will drive over to visit some of the friends.

I love that Christmas is a time for giving and I love that Christians can celebrate their beliefs. I don't like that you can't get away from it. I also don't like how the religious meaning has gotten so mingled with secular and even pagan traditions. I am not a Christian and I hate having to explain myself. I give gifts but in my heart they have nothing to do with a man born over 2000 years ago. I wish there was a way to have parties and give gifts and sing songs without having to exclude anyone or make anyone uncomfortable. I know many Christians are concerned about losing the religious meaning to Christmas but I'm not advocating taking anything away. I want a totally separate holiday, one which is more like Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving we don't worry about if the person next to us is thanking the same god we are. It is enough to give thanks. A week later I get questions from my friends about why I bake cookies if I'm not Christian. The honest truth is that the thankfulness spilled over and I want to celebrate my friends and neighbors, even celebrate the fact that they have faith, even if it is very different from mine. The thing I like about Christmas day is that the laundromat is empty and the streets are quiet in the morning and in the afternoon I hear the laughter of kids trying out their new toys.

I like the spirit of Christmas, the caroling and the eggnog, the gift wrapping and the smiles on my children, love Santa Claus, setting the cookies and milk out for Santa is one my favorite things to do.... I don't like how busy it gets. Sometimes people lose the spirit of Christmas when they get too busy, I don't like cooking all day... I love the fact that I am an American w/ Hispanic heritage because our family starts celebrating on Christmas eve and continue to Christmas day... It's the happiest season of all!

first of all i dont like the word X-mas , why do u want to remove Christ out of this day??? it pains me..
anyways what do i like about Christmas - well tis just a jolly season and everyone is in a spending mood and hopefully spending on ME..
I dont like the part where in my culture your whole clan can rock up at your house and expect you to feed them, they then mess up your house etc etc..
As for the DAY itself - well thats the day my saviour was born..

The Food and gifts. I like being with my family and making a day of it.
Having to look at my brother in law for hours.
The food and gives me a good reason to drink that day.
