DY was released for several reasons, some off field issues contributed, but the word is he was questioning Leyland's decisions during the final playoff stretch run, (he was released September 6th and cleared waivers Sept 8th with no team picking him up off waivers) Young had developed a reputation as a club house cancer with derisive comments counter productive to what the coaching staff wanted.. Trammell last year allowed it to happen which is partly why the team, playing 500 through August, tanked it in September last year sealing Trammell's fate at the end of the season, and losing control.. Leyland put an end to it this year when it became apparent he was 'bending' other players ears and not in a constructive way.. Throw in his off field legal issues with alcohol and girl friend abuse and the Tigers said good by..

thorfin39 is absolutely correct.
Plus, in each round of the playoffs you have a set roster. That cannot change during that round. Chris Shelton is NOT on the roster for this round, but he is allowed to travel with the team (as is Mike Maroth) because they are on the 40 man roster.
Regarding Casey. The Tigers have a few options, none of which are all that good. No Excuses, though. The Tigers still have a lot of work to do.

Sorry Matt, I wish he could too but DY has been gone since August, don't know why. It's been kept quiet for some reason. Let's just hope Casey won't be off too long.

It doesent matter he wouldnt qualify for the postseason roster anyway. I thought Shelton was on the bench? Oh well it will be ok w/ out him.
