What is the difference between a sociopath's beloved wife and a sociopath's rape/murder victim?

Do they truly feel for their wives and children or is it just a pseudo image?

BTK kept up quite a front for decades. So did John List. List even relocated and remarried after murdering his whole family even his mother! The wife may not "fit" the victim profile. For instance, Ted Bundy liked brunettes. Possibly he was mad at a brunette, say his mom, and he displaced his angry on the victims. But if a wife was blonde or red headed, she wouldn't fit in the profile and be omitted from the target group! Understand?

Sociopaths are people who use charm, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control others and to satisfy their own selfish needs. Lacking in conscience and in feelings for others, they cold-bloodedly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret.

I doubt that they view anyone as little more than instruments for how to get what they want.
