Do not eat a heavy lunch. If you are very hungry, eat a light meal follow up with a snack later after 3pm.

Wash your face with cold water. If your office has shower facility, take a quick shower (it works wonder).

Get up from you chair every 30 minutes, walk about in the office. If your boss questions you, tell him you are resting your eyes after staring at the computer screen for 30 minutes!

Afternoon Sleepiness Cure

2016-12-12 13:58:36 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Hi,

Afternoon sleepiness may be caused by two reasons:

1) Your Lunch
Did you know that when we eat carbo (potatos, rice, bread), the body will secrete alkaline substances to digest it and when we eat proteins (meats, seafoods), the body will secrete acidic substances to digest it.

When you eat both, congrats! Alkali meets Acid and turns neutral and your body will try for hours and get NOTHING digested. So your body is working hard for nothing.

We use the most amount of energy for the digestion of foods. So if you had a heavy meal of carbos+ proteins, your body will overwork and leave you drained and tired.

To overcome this. Try having a light lunch and keep away from carbohydrates. Take more salads , fruits and vegetables instead as these take the least amount of energy to be digested.

2) Your tired body
Your body may be already overtired and overworked. Thus your body is unable to sustain it's energy level beyond the afternoon.

I had a friend with the same problem. Come 2pm in the afternoon and in his words, "I would feel like i want to die already..." but ever since he did a detox for his body, he is full of energy that even when he sleeps at mid night, he is still full of energy.

"I felt so good that I decided to wake early at 5.30am the next day to go for a morning walk." he told me..

If you would like to find out more about the detox, email me at verityy@yahoo.com

Try getting up and taking a stretch walking to the bathroom, copy machine or what have you.
You could drink a glass of ice water or cold water, that speeds up the metabolism a bit.
A cup of coffee or a candy bar, or some snack might do the trick too.
I often get sleepy around 2 or 3 ish myself.

I have tried time and again using essential oils to help with many different ailments and such. I love working with them! I have always had a high success rate. I highly recommend their use, however a huge warning first.

You MUST do some research before you just go out an buy any of these and just start using them, or you could hurt yourself. They are extremely potent, and some could even irritate the skin or give you the counter effect of the desired result. Or worse don't know what you are buying and buy some over priced cruddy oil that has no medicinal qualities at all.

Two good books I recommend reading up on
The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: by Valerie Ann Worwood
and
The Aromatherapy Bible: The Definitive Guide To Using Essential Oils: Gill Farrer-Halls

Uplift the body and mind with an oil blend of geranium, bergamot and melissa.

Diffuse 4 drops of lemongrass oil into the air to counteract mental fatigue.

Refresh your mind with a blend of 5 drops of lemongrass and rosemary to 1 cup of water and mist as often as you need.
Inhale the steam of 4 drops of essential oil in a bowl of boiling water to stimulate your mind and invigorate your body with aromatherapy.

Massage your rosemary oil blend into the forehead and temples using a circular pattern with your fingertips.

Stimulate circulation and movement of energy with an invigorating scalp massage using a rosemary oil blend

Actually, drinking caffeine could be the reason you're tired. Caffeine wakes you up for a short while, but as soon as the caffeine wears off, your body just crashes. Try eating a well balanced breakfast and lunch. This will sustain you longer than caffeine ever will. Also, are you getting the same amount of sleep each night? If not, that may be a factor as well.

Eat a light lunch so as not to use all of your energy for digestion. Drink lots of water. Good hydration helps curb sleepiness, so does have to run pee every 15 minutes.
