yes . meteors hit earth every year...
mostly they are not very big, though

If could do, but there again a meteor or comet could hit the earth at any time. We just assume that any matter which hits earth will have been already seen but that is not necessarily so. I wouldn't worry about it however as there is nothing we can do to prevent it and worrying won't stop it.
