Good basis for going on to law, and politics. You realize that you aren't the first person in the world to go through problems and solved them.

ok i'm going to be completely honest here. in my view, history majors are pretty worthless. at my university, the coaches tell the athletes to major in history because it's the easiest major with the least amount of classes required...that way they can focus on sports without having to worry about their education "getting in the way".
beyond that, it seems like a cop-out. what in god's name is anyone going to do with a history degree? sure, you can go to law school. but which sounds more impressive: majored in history and went to law school? or majored in math and went to law school? what about engineering and law school? it's not that hard to get into law school these days, but it IS hard to get into a GOOD law school.
i can't tell you the number of people i've run into who say "oh, i used to be a math/engineering/chemisty major, but now i'm doing history/english/sociology." so basically, in my mind, i see it as a case of "science was too hard so now i'm doing liberal arts and hoping i'll get into law school." i hate to break it to you, but there are thousands and thousands of liberal arts majors hoping to get into law school. competition for the top law schools is tough, and contrary to popular belief, just going to A law school isn't usually good enough to get the high-paying jobs at the big firms.
so basically, what i'm saying is, if you're trying to figure out what to study, go with something in the sciences. yeah, it's hard, and yeah, there will be times when you want to quit and switch to english or political science. but trust me, in the long run, you will be much better off. don't kid yourself by telling yourself that you're better with essays than you are with science, blah blah blah. if you are willing to put in the work, you will succeed. and trust me, you will come out ahead of the thousands of liberal arts majors you meet as you go through school. and think about it...if 90% of the people you know are doing liberal arts, and only 10% of your friends are studying the sciences...where do you think all the jobs openings are going to be?
good luck and whatever you choose, i hope you succeed in school and in life.
