I have not experienced it but as I'm doctor i can answer ur question. regaining function of surgically attached severed nerve depends on several factors but most imp of them is
Site of nerve damage: distal nerve damage heals earlier than proximal nerve damage. this is because following nerve damage distal fragment dies and proximal frangment start growing througth path formed by this dead fragment. Nerve grows at rate of 1 mm/ day, so it may take several month to regain function if damage is prxoximal.
Physiothyrapy and mild exercise does definatly helps to regain nerve function.
Lastly for healing of any kind of damaged tissue requires good health and ballanced diet is not excuse for it.
