Good question. I'm not sure I'm capable of answering it until I get older and start looking at myself different. Not being young and cute and skinny is a terror of mine. now THAT is shallow...
However, The only surgery I could see myself getting is botox (at 25 I already have laugh lines and crow's feet, and lines on my forehead!!! and i NEVER go in the sun!) and a tummy tuck after children because I know you can never lose that bulge because your stomach muscles split (and i've worked hard for mine).
However, at the age of 60 if my face droops, will I care enough to have surgery? I hope not. but who knows until you get there you know? I think getting older is a fact of life and some celebrities go overboard... but to each their own.

No, If you have the ability to make yourself better looking why wouldn't you. Some think it is an extreme way to get the look you want, but if you go to the gym and try to stay in shape and there's just a thing or two about you that you want changed why not get plastic surgery if you have the money for it.

It depends on the reason for having it. If you think it will make you happier or a better person, then yes. If you have had an accident or have a birth defect and just no longer wish to be disfigured, I would say no. I don't think I would do it. Well, I do plan on having a breast reduction, but that is only to help reduce my back pain, so I guess that is more medicinal than cosmetic.

I used to think so, after all we should all be happy with what we got right? But I've discovered that not everyone have been given features that would be considered charismatic. Is it their fault then? Then there are those that time has been harsh to or some tragic incident has left a cruel mark. Are we doing something to enhance the outside or are we healing something on the inside? I think its more important that we consern ourselves with keeping our self esteem at a healthy level.

Unless it's altering a "defect" that seriously affects someone's life: yes.
Boob jobs, collagen, face lifts are for emotionally insecure people.
