Yes, I have 4 step plan to get rational answers or at least civil discussion. Guaranteed to yield at least one or two ideas you hadn't thought of or hadn't thought of in quite that way!

1. Ask a question likely to get a large number of responses.

2. Try to avoid absolutist modifiers such as all, everyone, never, etc.

3. Make one pass through your answers, minimizing the obviously ugly and ignorant ones.

4. Sign on in a day or two. You will have forgotten all the ignorant and hateful ones you glanced at the day before. Resist the temptation to click on "show", and read through the rest of the answers. There will be 2 or 3 ideas you'll like or that will cause you to think, I guarantee it!

No. The country is too polarized for any rational debates. Remember the 2000 elections when Bush promised that he would unite both parties and create a non-partisan government like he did in Texas? I guess we should have seen through that when the Texas Democrats ran off to Oaklahoma becasue the Republicans would not allow to voice their opinion.

No way. Far too many misguided labels and mud-slinging from the left and right take place on nearly every question.

You'll find the Democrats, who blame Bush for his failing foreign policies...and the Republicans, who try their best to justify Bush and use Clinton as a scapegoat.

No because there's just too much mudslinging going on between the Liberals and the Conservatives. It's just that simple.
