im am currently getting assistance from the state im on stamps and i have medical im 8 months preg. I do not want to get child support thru the state because they take so much money should i get a lawyer or what other way can i go about child support i want to get the most money i can . please help time is coming near

for all of u saying or thinking im being lazy or don't want to work or im being greedy or thats what i want to rely on you are dead wrong im filing for child support i just want to know which way i can go get the most money yes the father needs to help pay up and it will help in the long wrong period. oh by the way I am working.

most states require you to determine paternity and recieve child support through the child support agency if you are recieving any assistance from the state

I don't know what you mean by getting child support from the state because child support comes from the non custodial parent.....the father of your soon to be born child. You can get state aid and welfare...at least that's what I have heard.
Sounds like you're going to need a lawyer. As for going about getting the most money you can.... in most states there is a set formula that determines how much you get...unless the father is very well off then your attorney can seek more than the state mandated amount.
When I got divorced, I took custody of our son and my ex-wife had to pay child support (he was only 14 at the time). The state just plugged the numbers into the IOWA requirements and that was the amount she had to pay that amount.

You get child support from the child's father,if you receive benefits,you will be required to name him.You'll only get the amount of child support that he is required to pay,most times they consider his income when making this determination.You will never get enough child support to live off of,unless the father is a millionaire.I got $20.00/week child support,and didn't even get that half the time.Just because they are ordered to pay,doesn't mean they will.You have to take responsibility for yourself and child and get a job after the baby is born.Child support is not about getting the most money you can.

Getting the most child support?Its one thing to get child support but getting the most?Guess this one is best for me not to answer.I managed to raise 2 children with no child support and 2 months of welfare.My parents helped raise my children and thank god for that and I know you are 8 months pregnant but greed and laziness will get you no where because you cannot depend on the child support as sometimes it will come and sometimes it wont.I would concentrate on getting some education on line for a job and have your parents help you.You stay on welfare,the state govt OWNS your children. Good luck and work hard and you will be happier and be proud of yourself,its hard but it can be done.

If you receive Welfare for your children you have assigned your child support rights to the State. The State will pursue a child support order and if there is another one will be alerted to the fact. Even if you try to go to schedule a court date on your own the State will be notified.
You will still receive your current child support but the State has the right to collect its arrears before you collect your arrears.
I will leave it to the rest of the respondents to tell you off for trying to take advantage of the State.

i live in GA it doesn't cost anything to file here if you receive state benefits if you don't its only 55 dollars to file then its up to the father to pay any DNA tests or court costs i filed 10 years ago and have received 88$ a week since the state doesn't charge anything good luck to you

If you know who the father is, put him on the birth certificate and request the court to make him pay. It's good for 18 years.
