Instead of clicking onto the photo, right click the photo in your email, click on "Save As", then choose where you want to keep the photo.

I am assuming that you are using Outlook/Outlook Express to check your mail. To save the images you have received as attachments, double-click on the email to open it. In the File menu, click Save Attachments.
In Outlook Express, if the save attachments option is greyed out, Click Tools->Options->Security (tab). Uncheck the option "Do not allow attachments to be saved".
If you are using webmail, most webmails have a clear link at the bottom of the message that says 'Save attachments' or 'Save this document' etc.

If the photo you want to copy is in a email message, simply right click on it and click on 'save image...'
Or if it is in an attachment, click on "download attachment"

I would say that the first thing is to check where your computer generally downloads the file too. It sounds like your computer is downloading the picture from email, but it is not in your picture folder. Thus, it is then going to your download folder in temp in your drive. You can check this easier by clicking on "my computer" and search for the name of the picture, and see where it went.

I don't know a lot about computers. On my computer, I right click on the picture, then click send to, then when my picture file opens up, I click on save.

Just right click on the photo and "save as". Name it and save it where you want it...under "my documents." "my pictures." or create a folder first and then save it to that.
Hope that helps.
