Why not?
Individuality is what built this country and it's a damn sexy trait to have as well.
Think about it like this: society was built to meet the needs of the many, but it's not going to meet everyone's needs. So if you feel like you're on the outside looking in, then do what makes you happy. You'll be a better person if you know how to follow your bliss.

Because everybody is individual and it's great. Why would anyone want to be just like everyone else? That would be hell.
