Where do you all get your information? I hear so many different sides of things that it gets confusing. Someone says Bush did this, and someone else says no he didn't. How do you know it?

i think this is a great question. there is so much BS in politics and the media that its hard to tell what is true. I subscribe to factcheck.org. they're really good at cutting through distortions in a non-partisan manner. I would also say that you should totally ignore all political advertisements. You can't trust them at all. As for news, i've found the AP to be pretty reliable, but of course you should always try to research any extraordinary claims. Any partisan websites should be totally ignored. Even if they tell you something true, you can't be sure it is true and not "spun." A final word of advice, try to get your info from various sources, and think critically about what is being said.

Its a very sad state this country is in today. I'm only 22, but I'm already astounded at how gullible the average voter is. All the time i read about open lies and distortions that swing an election one way or the other. People seem to believe anything they are told. A democracy cannot properly function if tens of millions of dollars are constantly being spent to misinform.

FIRST... and this is important... you don't know ANYTHING for sure... it's all according to sources... but there are varying levels of reputable sources...

but, I get a lot of my "general" info from sources like the census (it's provided by the government, so I try to keep in mind that it may be tilted in favor of them) and other government studies... and wikipedia (but keep in mind that it is the internet, and is not totally safe, but it can guide you to other sources that you may not have known about)...

I also try to keep up with the media and what they are putting out... AP, CNN, Fox News, networks, BBC, I try to look at them all and see how all of them are talking about the same issue... the truth is often somewhere in between...

in short, get both sides, and the truth is often somewhere in between... and pay attention and be wary of things with only one source or no source... like for example, if they only talk to one person and only get that one side to a story, it's probably VERY bias...

Hear a story--find out it's sources--research the sources for yourself---then decide. Unbiased media is hard to find. First hand accounts of actual situations are fairly believable. Experts in their field are usually reliable too. Air America. Mediamatters Worldnetdaily, peter werbe, center for american progress, focus on the family, on and on. Once you get a grip on an issue--just go see for yourself.

the thing to do is type you subject into the search line, and read everything that comes up on the first page. Statically you should get a proper random sample to form opinions from.
If you just read/watch one source, regardless of which one it will be biased.

My source is the news, C-SPAN, and the press conferences the actual person gives. I will sometimes check on the internet, but I don't rely on them solely without double-checking info...

Wikipedia.org, just be sure there are legit sources and it doesn't have one of the neutrality flags and it should be kosher info.
