I can't help but wonder this because I've been "playing" with them for years and have never been possessed by demons or had anything horrible happen (that wasn't already going to).
I truely believe that your unconcious or subconcious mind moves the board without you realising it.
It is kind of more fun and scary to think that its spirits from the other side talking to you though.

I've had a pointer move by itself. I've had one spin around and fly off the board. I still think it was my mind doing it. The human mind is far more complex then most of us realise.

Try this out for size. The Ouija board was created for one purpose and that purpose was to get in contact with the the spirit realm. There is no doubt that it worked because there are to many eye witnesses over the years have shown other how spirits can cross over using this board. But what so many people fail to realizes is that Satan and his fallen angels also live on the other side. And they too can cross over, And create havoc in this world. Yes some people have used it and nothing happen to them why? Because they may not have been using the board correctly and thus they were spared. Then there are the people that say Satan is not real: he is just a figment of someones imagination. And yet they hear voices that seem to come from no where and that person commits some un-speakable crime and then when it is all over the first thing that comes out of his mouth is:" I feel so alone". Which has proven to be a sure sign of possession. so my reccomendation is that those that think the Ouija board is harmless should do more reading about it. Why do people who never believed in satan before do now? Just stay away from it.

People call them evil because they have experienced bad things from them first hand.
My sister when she was a kid begged to get one. Her mom refused because of something bad that happened to her from using one, and then finally relented. When she was using one with friends, freaky things happened. One girl was totally not herself and she wasn't the dramatic type. Then when they put the board away, my sister experienced things she said were beyond explanation. The bed visibly rippled like there was something underneath it trying to get out. The room was sweltering hot when it should not have been. The overhead fan took on a life of its own, and many other events. Even with the board stored in another part of the house, there was no way she could calm down enough to bring herself to get any sleep in her room. She couldn't get rid of that board fast enough, and as soon as she did, things were back to normal.
I trust that she was not lying because that's not in her personality to be a drama queen. She says she will not use one today without taking extreme measures of protection beforehand. I personally believe (from experience) that there is much more out there than meets the eye that you do not want to mess around with. The friendly ghosts and such don't exist as far as I've seen. But the evil manevolent ones are begging to be called up whether you intend it or not so they can screw you up for good.
I personally won't use a Ouija board. I don't believe there is enough protection against the unknown that you can conjure yourself before you use it. For the record, I am Pagan, not Christian so I'm not relating this to religion at all.

The only contact I have had with Ouija boards was over 40 yrs ago in my teens...I can tell you that they were designed to contact spirits.. I can tell you that they do work for some... yes, there are many who just "play" with them...but the spirits do not play... if you do summon one I can assure you that it will not be friendly... The souls of mortals do not return from the otherside... what is summoned by the use of ouija boards are evil spirits mascerading as the souls of the lost...to "play" with them is to put your immortal soul at risk.... I have been of the Christian Faith for only 6 1/2 yrs... my opinion of ouija boards and all other occult practices was formed long before... the forces of evil are very real... i have knowen this for most of my life... I praise God that I finaly came to know The Truth of a better way... while I never activly participatedn the occult after the teen experiments... the influence of evil has been evident to me ane has had it's negative effet on me an those close to me... I do not "play" with evil... I urge you very strongly not to as well....

because its a way of communicating with spirits, and i aint talking about your dead relative, i mean non-human spirits. Some people dont realize or dont believe that there are other realms out there besides us. There are spirit worlds too that we arent meant to mix with, but things like the Ouija board that some company tried to make money off of as a 'childrens game' are tools to communicate with beings that we arent supposed to be communicating with. How do you think it knows your friends names and where you live and things like that? Have you asked it things like that? because how the hell can a game just 'guess' things like that if its only an inocent piece of wood? The only reason Im so sure about this is because I do have family who has had REALLY bad experiences with an Ouija board and they couldnt undo certain things. It isnt just a game. Just because other people who have never had any type of experiences with the supernatural tell you there is no such things as evil spirits and all that, doesnt mean that they are right. They are just people who dont believe in all that because they are lucky enough that they have never had anything happen to them. Just be careful. I suggest you get rid of it

People have had true experiences with ouija boards that are both freaky and menacing. It is not always the fun and games people make it out to be. The ouija board is a tool to talk to spirits, and just because you may not believe in those spirits does not mean that they cannot play games with you. If you are going to use the ouija board at least take a little caution and don't just ask anything into your home.

Because they open a door into the spirit world over which we have no control. It allows anything and everything evil or otherwise to enter our world. My Mother and her friends were warned about an issue with her best friends brother...the next day he committed suicide. I have been taught never to touch one, and I never will, they scare me to death because the only spirits that humans can control are the ones who want to be.

Listen to me babydoll, I'm a medium as well ok. We usually warn those off of the Ouija board because amatures usually get themselves in HUGE trouble with this thing. Its like EVP (electronic voice projection) lots of fun in the beginning, but if you don't know what you are doing lots of trouble in the end. I'm praying here that you earth ground and protect before each use of this thing, and spiritully release any negativity afterwards. Many mediums use tools that we DON'T recommend to others. Like for instance I use the crystal ball, the pendulum, tarot cards, scrying glass, ect. However I have had training in using these things, and like you, have used some of these without training because I was naive. I've been a medium all of my life and like you, I have been blessed not to run across any serious trouble although I have seen the potential for it, and got to side step it before it was too late. All I'm saying is be careful, learn how to earth and ground and protect yourself, it may sidestep any heart ache later ok babes.

Because religious people love to demonize things. Plain and simple.
One person asked on some religious forum about "Mind Freak"... you know, the magician / illusionist guy?
He got like 10 responses saying how Chris Angel is a daemon and is an abomination... The guy uses smoke and mirrors, illusions... tricks. Yet they come out and call him a daemon.
Man, forget what these people say. All they can do is criticize anything they don't agree with and make sure you know how they feel... over and over and ... you get my point.

Because it "opens" the door to the spiritual world, where the souls that couldn't find their way to the eternal rest or hell are. You could never tell if a "good" or a "bad" soul will attend your "call". Reason why it is dangerous. I believe on it!

Either because they have heard stories from people that have had bad experiences, or becasue of their religious belief they feel that ALL such things are evil because of their use in spirit contact.
The board it self is just a focus for the person or persons, using it, nothing more, nothing less.
