i think you are influenced by Freud's Oedipus complex theory. it was disdained by Alfred Adler and Carl Jung and other eminent modern psychologists. it is not at all correct that men are attracted to women who resemble their mothers. but they like those women who possess the good qualities and good habits which were possessed by their mothers.

Yes, I think that's sometimes true, but not for the reasons that some psychologists have suggested. I think if a man is attracted to a woman who reminds him of his mother it is because that woman makes him feel safe and secure and loved, much like a mother would. Perhaps she's a good cook like his mom, or she's really caring like his mom, etc. The same thing happens with women; a woman is often attracted to men who are like her father, sometimes even if her father was an abusive jerk. It's all a part of the bizarre yet fascinating human psyche.

No, it's not true. Ever heard about Sigmund Freud's mother, Amalia (Amalie) Nathanson? Well, it turns out that Sigmund overgeneralized things that happened during his childhood. Sigmund was Amalia's favorite child. He had many siblings. Sigmund was Amalia's first child. It was a poor Jewish family in Vienna. So in comparison to his siblings, Freud was spoiled. That's why he liked his mother so much. And he had also feelings of resentment towards his father. So he came up with the idea of overgeneralizing things. And then he sold those ideas ("Psychoanalyse") to tea party ladies in Vienna, and later in London, where talking about human sexuality was apparently more taboo than usual during the Victorian period. So that's why his ideas became popular. But it's just baseless quackery.

Ya I agree with Curious' answer --
I think that we base what we want to grow up on based after our role models -- which often is our parents whether we want to admit it or not.
We try to take things we liked about our parents and carry it on, and often try to find the opposite (or at least drastically different) in things we did not like about our parents. Not only do we mold ourselves this way, we look for similar traits in a spouse.
So, MAYBE some physical traits will be passed, but I think much more of it is how we act, how we think, and how we show affection.

I think so to a great extent... if not resemble, atleast have some of the traits of their moms.
Why?
Because their Mothers brought them up, fed them, provided them with safety and comfort, and soothed the kids when unhappy.
At a subconcious level, yes, I believe it to be true.

Yes. In general I think so. You have to realise a boys mother is his first love and the most perfect love, So yes I think men do look for aspects of their mother in their partners. There's nothing wrong with it. I also think women do it too.

Generally, i think they want someone who is similar to their mothers in the fact of WHAT they do, like taking care of **** (not physical features) but for example my mom does a lot of stuff around the house and is very independent, I could never have a chick who sits around and isn't very used to taking care of the necessary stuff. I think its that type of attraction, in that sense at least. Again i dont think physical...unless your a damn weirdo/freak.

No its not, thats sick, dont listen to Freud Sigmund even tho he has contributed greatly to the field of Psychology. I for one can speak about that, i already told myself i dont want my gf/wife to be anything at all like my mother, not even to be born in the same month. Now dont get me wrong, its not that i hate my mother with a passion because i dont, me and my mom are good actually, i just dont want my gf/wife to be anything like her!!!
