Once in a person's lifetime, everyone finds this one perfect person whom they fall hopelessly in love with and live happily ever after. That is a mere fallacy, in the real world, this simply does not happen. Yes, people do have common interests and therefore develop romantic involvement, but it is basic common sense that these relationships have a life span and simply cannot last. Real life relationships are definitely more like "The Real World" rather than "Romeo and Juliet". Romanticism is wonderful in itself, and thus two people can live in heavenly bliss, but it all must come to an end somehow. It is a fact of life that couples do break up, and there are many reasons why. There are countless reasons, ranging from cheating, lack of sex, interference by parents, relatives etc to abuse, attributing to breakups.
Most relationships end with a series of whimpers rather than one big bang (not that kind of bang!). What I mean is that it's tough to let go of someone with whom you've felt close; with whom you've shared hopes, dreams and, yes, "bangs." A relationship -- even a bad one -- is a cocoon that insulates us from the big, bad world. So it's natural that you and your ex are still keeping company.
However, he was afraid to commit to you in the last eight years, he's afraid to commit today, and he'll probably be afraid to commit a month from today or even later ?.
Why should he make a commitment to you? He gets to spend time with you, kiss you and caress you and then goes back into the safety of his family. (Remember, once you broke up, you lost your claim of exclusivity.) Tell him that if he wants to date you and ultimately marry you, he has to dive in despite his fears and make a commitment. End of story. Otherwise he can walk, if not with your blessing, then with your goodwill. Right now he's not your friend; he's an ex with the power to really mess you up emotionally.
My advice: You've got to cut the cord binding you to him before it chokes you.
However you are the best judge and the choice is yours to carry on through uncertainity forever ????

Its difficult to judge this person from what little u have written. Love does not only mean getting physical. If he really loved and cared for u he would have fought with his family and would have not left u. If at all he would have felt responsible towards u, he would have not just dumped u. Sorry to use these words but its d hard fact. He has again come to u , ask urself Why? Is it that he is getting someone to enjoy freely ? Believe me dont trust ur lover he can throw u out of his life anytime to leave u shattered. He wont loose anything but u will spoil ur entire life. For physical need dont let him come to u and u too find a sensible match and get married.

Sorry to hurt u. U r feeling everything good coz he has come back. & so u r in greed to forget those painful, unbearable moments when he LEFT U. Left u to face the troubles alone saying only sorry & understand please!!!!!
Life is tooooo long & as u've said full of ups & downs. U DESERVE a life partner (not this love). don't be blind. understand the fact that HE HAS NO SPINALCORD. He may leave u again. U have loved a weak MAN. He doesn't deserve U.
My best friend suffered exactly the same, she forgave 3 times, her bf was crying for her so she melted thrice. But he's weak & confused. He married other girl saying SORRY!!!!!
Now , my friend is also maried & very happy.............
Don't worry about physics.
Dare to leave......U deserve faith, U can't respect this person for the life.
LEFT!!!! How dare anybody leave u? Do u not have self respect?
P.S. I fully agree with misty's words.

a better question would be why after 8 years would you two let family get in way if you really love each other. With true love nothing stops it. Maybe its just lust. Move on and find a man who will be by your side no matter what. Thats true love.

You can take him back as long as the downs are not more than the ups. But if it's the other way round, I would suggest you two stay away from each other.

Hum mm is it love bonding or love making? I think after 8 years and you two are still not married there is a serious problem !! You should let that man go and do whatever it is he does.. Find you someone who appreciates you for you and not your bonding !!!

If you think and understand if he left you for genuine reasons, then you should give him one more opportunity. Give him time and if he is able to take you into confidence then carry on with the relation (marriage). Else, i suggest that you get back and that you should look for a supportive man.

id give him another change but make it clear that family issues or anything else shouldnt come between the two of u again and if they do u will not have any problem turning the cheek and leaving him for good.

I think u should not accept him, if he left u before then whts the gurantee that he'll not leave u again.
also may be in these 8 years he would v got family & everythin then its a bigger prob if u r planning to get settled with him.
