how long does it takes for the sperm and the egg to actually get together?

Sperm lives in the woman's body for 24 to 72 hours after intercourse. So egg fertilization can occur up to 3-days after intercourse (this is why some women like to douche after intercourse). In some rare cases sperm has been seen to last 5-days but it is not very strong by that point so fertilization would be unlikely at time.

If you are talking about actual conception, one minute. But if you are thinking about how long sperm could live inside you between the time you had sex and the fertilization of your egg, three days max.

it actually takes 72 hours or 3 days. its like that morning after pill u have up to 3 days after unprotected sex to take that pill n not get pregnant. therefore that pill thickens the sperm so that it wont b able to fertilize the egg.

It can take up to three days. I read an article that found in a recent study that having sex three days before you ovulate can increase your chances of conceiving. It worked for me!
