Start making it seem like you're really interested in their life. Ask about how his/her family is.

That's too difficult to answer, because all bosses are different. Some like obvious sucking up, especially in front of other workers. Other bosses can't stand any kind of sucking up. So my advice is not do do it. Sucking up is a way to cover up the fact that you suck at your job. The best way to suck up is to do a good job, be reliable etc. Say the proper things like "good morning" etc. Smile, and don't complain. That's not sucking up, but that's the best way to suck up in my opinion.
Another way to suck up is to be really into your company, and read the company emails, even memorize facts, even ask questions. Then if you are asked about something you will look really really good, because you are on the same page with the company.

What I have in mind isn't exactly sucking up... its just getting on their good side. Try to find something that you both have in common... same hobbies, watch the same movies, same car, clothes... whatever it is I'm sure you can find something. When you click with someone because of like interests they automatically stay in your mind as a good person because you see your own qualities in them... get it? Sucking up in the literal sense is shallow and people see that a mile away. Be sincere and just be real.... it'll pay off with respect and them having you in mind for special favors and tasks.

Why would you want to brown nose your Boss? Its not a good thing to do, if you cant do well in your work without doing this, maybe you dont deserve to have a job in the first place and besides I can assure you that the others that work with you are not going to respect you for doing it anyway.

If you have to suck up to your boss, then clearly you don't like your job or yourself that much!! No job is worth having to suck up to someone and not be yourself!
