volume is three dimentional, area is two. Volume is generaly found by multpling three figures - length, width and height. Area is two - length and width.

They are two completely different things and have different equations to calculate them.

In some cases, such as prisms, the Volume can be written as a function of the area of a cross-section, but that is a very specific case.
