It sounds like you didn't pay for the tow or your payment bounced, so they posted a lien on your drivers licence and figured they will just wait until you pay it. They know eventually you will pay the lien or it will remain on your record forever.

Your best bet is to pay the lien and get it off your record now, before you go to apply for a mortgage or a car loan and have it show up. If it does, then you might get denied or have to pay a higher interest rate.

If you did pay for the tow and believe it is in error, then you might have to take them to court. However, depending on the amount and how confident you are about being able to handle it on your own, you may not need an attorney.
