I'm going to go against the grain here. Yes I think that it would prevent rapes, so we would have less rapes. First of all, the prostitutes that are being raped, generally don't report it, because they are scared of the legal implications. If prostitution were legal, they wouldn't be so quick to hide it. I have checked several statistics, and where prostitution is legal, generally the crime rate of rape is down.
For the record, I don't think prostitution should be legal, but I don't think that they are monsters, and in the end it is their choice what to do or not to do with their life.

We wouldn't have less rapes, because it is true rape is about power and not sex. But we would have less prostitutes get murdered. And we would be doing away with a retarded law that only wastes police's time.

On second thought, maybe we would have less rapes. The cops could take all the time they waste busting prostitutes and use it to go after rapists!

If taking money from a bank when you don't have any in there was legal. Do you think there would be more drunks or less? That is how uniformed you are about the difference between having sex and raping someone.

No, rape is not about sex. Sex is used as a weapon to gain power and control over a victim and humiliate and violate that victim. 83% of all rape victims know their perpetrators and 70% of all rapes occur in the victims home or the home of someone she knows. So...legalizing prostitution would not help anything. It would just give our government one more thing to tax.

The question cannot be answered because it is hypothetical. First prostitution will have to be made legal, then we will have to watch the graph. Nothing can be predicted at present because man is an unpredictable animal

No. Rape is an act of violence, not something that happens out of a sexual need.

Yeah, thats like saying if we allowed children to marry at 10, we wouldn't have child molesters. Sorry, two wrongs don't make a right.
