first call the law enforcement agency that you think would have worked the acc..give them the date and location. tell them that you seen it and want to know how the injured party is. the patrolman that worked it should be able to tell you. he might even tell you his name.
i think nowadays when you try and ask a hospital about a patient, they cannot give any info out..good luck

Maybe the police reports? Call the police office (not 911), or maybe call the local hospital.

Check with your local newspaper, Highway Patrol/Police or TV station. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

Why don't you call them and ask them?
If that's not possible, find out what hospital they were taken to and call them or talk to a relative.
