These people who earlier post answers, i don't really think they've ever took their time to read what is written in Al Quran, hey are only talking from their own mind while in the actual sense the human mind is evil and always wants destruction, and so called "FREEDOM" go and read the Quran better and see all those answers science cant provide today, Quran has provided them long long ago, go into the Quran all those things you called ancient and today, you will find them there in,
if only you read as in read with a open mind your lives will never remain the same,
Quran is not written by any man, go and make your research, Quran never changes but still affect perception till date, go and find out, Quran gives answer to today's world politics and human relationship go and discover it, it is full of philosophy so it is meant for only those that thinks, Quran is full of poetry only for those that has an open mind, if you were born a pagan, I'm sorry it will take only the special grace of Allah for you to understand all these things,
and please don't mix religion with God as well as you don't Mix God with so called men of God or rather soldiers of God.
God is the supreme Being and He is only One.

the news is 24 hours of images which inform people of relevant issues in the world today. "Relevant" and "today" are key words in that sentence. For one, spiritual books are just that, books, nothing too flashy. Second, they are wisdom that is important, but not tangent to anything current or trendy. Third, spiritual texts require more intelligence to understand than a news story.
Hope this helps.

Because holy books aren't the word of god, but instead man pretending to be the voice of god.
You asked....that's the real question.
Here's a question in turn...why do you beleive that book written by man are the word of god? Don't you think that a god who could create the universe would have you born with all 'his words' already in your brain?

one is based on testimony that is very recent and can usually be verified and is often provided by multiple sources. the other is based on writings hundreds of years old that cannot be verified and comes from one source. if you had to choose between believing a report coming from multiple sources about something that just happened or a report coming from one source about something that happened long ago, which would you find more believable?

News: actual things, happening in today's world.
Holy books: half fairy tales, half barbarian history.
