No, they shouldn't trade Alex Rodriguez, unless they're absolutely blown away by someone's offer. He's still one of the best players in the majors, and even though he has a history of disappearing in the playoffs, he also has a history of having great regular seasons. And you can't have any playoff history (good, bad or otherwise) unless you make it there. Remember, he still hit .290, had 35 HRs, and over 100 RBIs this season, and that's a down year for him.
He's only 31 (he's actually 7 days younger than me, heheh) and still has a lot of upside. On ESPN.com, Jim Caple suggested that the Yankees trade Derek Jeter, because he's older, doesn't have nearly the same numbers, and has better trade value right now. I don't think they trade anyone, but rather Steinbrenner just ponies up more money for starting pitching.

To trade him, they'd have to agreee to eat some of the salary. I think the Rangers are covering $9 million of his $25 million contract ... which leaves $16 million. If the Yankees were willing to eat somewhere between $6 and 8 million of the remainder, many teams would be interested.
I think he needs to go. He seems to be fading under the pressure even in the regular season (all the fielding errors this past season), and of course has been horrible in the post season. The post season is where the Yankees will ALWAYS be, so they need players who can perform there.
The Yankees need pitching, I say the Yankees move him for pitching.
Though, since I don't really like the Yanks, I'd be delighted if they keep him, so I can continue to watch him choke.

i think of they should commerce him. A-Rod might like it and income from it, and so might the Yankees. A-Rod only can not safeguard new york, and he can not play in the playoffs with that style of tension. or perhaps he might income from going decrease back to shortstop. So in the event that they commerce him, perhaps he would be extra mushy enjoying for a team that doesn't require you win a championship each and every 12 months. And, if he can not safeguard new york, the Yankees pay 24 million money for a guy who won't help them finished their purpose. The Yankees might income using fact they lose Alex Rodriguez, and that they get one extra 24 million money (which i'm particular they gained't hesitate to apply!).don't get me incorrect A-Rod is an stunning participant and that i admire him lots. i definitely do not comprehend why purple Sox followers hate him lots, using fact he needed to be the purple Sox shortstop. It wasn't his fault he's a Yankee. it is the gamers' association not letting him get much less money (even however he needed much less to return to Boston). it is George Steinbrenner's insane spending suggestions. it is Aaron Boone breaking his knee or some thing enjoying basketball. in fact to sum all of it up, A-Rod can't be in new york, and new york can not have A-Rod.

People, He won the MVP last year! He has had a btter year then 95% of MLB and you want to trade him???? An above avaerage plyer with 35 hr and 125 RBI's. He had some fielding blunders but remember the yanks dont make it the post season without him over the last two years. Any team on the planet would trade for him. They would move him back to SS and improve there team greatly. And dont forget he never gets hurt!

George thinks he can buy a great team.. but it just doesnt happen like that. If a team is full of clashing egos and lack of teamwork and camaraderie, they wont win no matter how talented each individual may be.
Keeping or trading A-rod wont make a difference. The only possible difference is that they wouldnt be wasting as much money. Personally, I think his salary is outrageous and that professional sports salaries should be based on performance. Paying $50 to $100 or more to attend a game and then watching patiently as nothing happens is total horsefeathers.
