I got a letter in Jan. 2006 that said they raised my check $200 an now I got a letter that says they paid me to much. Can they change my amount based on their mistake?

Find out Why....this has occured. And they will say whatever....
But, the main thing is,..if they DO want money back, then ask
them to please take a little bit out of your check each month..until
debt is paid off. They will usually just do that. But you have to
speak up, ya know.

Of course....they're the government, they can do anything they want to, and we just have to suck it up and accept it (generally speaking).

yes they can. they can do it in one lump sum next pay period or you can go and have them take payments if you can't afford to have them do that....

You can have a hearing and contest it.
