What is a unit circle? A unit circle is a circle whose coordinates at 0,0 axis and has a radius of 1.
tan() = sin()/cos()
tan(pi/2) = undefined since cos of of pi/2 = 0
tan(pi/3) = 1.73 units
tan(pi/4) = 0.36 units
tan(pi/6) = 0.58 units
remember pi = 180degrees.

On the unit circle, it is important to memorize the basic ones-
pi/2 is equal to 90 degress
pi is equal to 180 degress
3pi/2 is equal to 270 degress
2pi is equal to 360 degrees

To find the others, to find the angle that it is, just multply the radian you have by 180/pi.
For example, pi/3

pi/3 X 180/pi
the two pi's cancel each other, then you have 180/3
which equals 60 degrees.

You can do this on your calculator. Under the mode menu, change it to radians. Then do pi/2, pi/3, etc. Its easier that way although you should memorize the basic ones.

Your calculator will give you all those tangent values. Just push the correct buttons in the proper order.

Helpful picture of the unit circle.

Now just do the following:

sohcahtoa

sin= op/hy
cos= adj/ hy
tan= opp/ adj =Y/X

Hope it helps!
