there are many possible reasons for why your vagina would itch. there is a disease called yeast infection which is a common fungal infection of the vagina, characterized by itching, burning, or redness of the vaginal area. There is also the possibility of STD's if you are sexually active. if so, i suggest you see a gynocologist or talk to your family doctor. the last reason might be that you just need to wash your vagina a little more thoroughly when you take a shower. when you don't wash properly, the skin can get dry and uncomfortably itchy becuase of a build-up of oils, dead skin, and sweat. please take care of yourself and if it doesn't clear up after you wash, then ask to see your doctor. best of luck!

Depending in what your other symptoms are it could be one of the following:
Trichomoniasis: is caused by the organism Trichomonas vaginalis. It is transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person. There are usually no symptoms of infection.
When women do have symptoms, they may include:
A yellowy green, ‘frothy’ discharge, An unpleasant odour or
Vaginal or vulval itching.
Vaginal thrush is a common infection caused by a yeast called candida albicans, which lives - in small numbers – in areas of the body like the bowel, mouth and in the vagina. Thrush develops when candida numbers grow excessively. Thrush is also known as candidiasis.Vaginal itching or burning are common symptoms. Symptoms which you may experience if you develop thrush include: Vaginal discomfort: itching or burning
A thick white discharge with a 'cottage cheese' appearance
Redness or swelling of the vagina or vulva , Stinging or burning while urinating.
Both conditions are diagnosed by a swab test and both can be easily treated with antibiotics.
Hope this helps!

You may have an infection when your vagina itches alot.
The infection may be simple type, like yeast or the serious type,
like STD which is very traumatic and some couldn't be cured
at all.
I suggest that you see a skin specialist for STD. Have it
thoroughly checked to determine the actual type and get it
cured as soon as possible.
Best of luck!

You should go to a doctor or your local family planning clinic to be evaluated for any vaginal infections such as yeast or bacterial vaginaosis, both are common and are not STD's. They are caused by a disturbance in the healthy bacteria in the vaginal tract. They can be treated with medication.
You may also want to consider getting screened at the same visit for STD's if you are sexually active just to rule that out and give yourself some peace of mind, either way.
It is more likely that you have a vaginal infection and not an STD. These are common and, of course, quite uncomfortable, so do not hesitate to get an exam and be diagnosed.

sounds like a vaginal yeast infection. yuck, those are horrible. symptoms are usually itching in the vaginal area (obviously lol), the discharge coming out kind of resembles cottage cheese (white, clumpy). smells like bread or alcohol (since both alcohol and bread contain yeast, hence the name, 'yeast infection'). the cause can be anything. girls who wear, nylons, tight jeans, swimsuits, basically any type of clothing that can retain moisture can contract a yeast infection. also, certain sanitary items, or soaps can give you an allergic reaction also causing a yeast infection. try wearing all cotton underwear, and go see a doctor about an antibiotic to get rid of it, usually takes about 3 days to fully go away. hope this helps! :D
