of course you must put all your hair in it for sanitary reason. if you didn't, wearing a hairnet would just be useless. ;-)

No, and I'm glad I don't have to. I work in a restaurant, but I'm a hostess, so I can wear my hair however I want. Servers have to have theirs back, and the guys in the kitchen all have really short hair, except for one, and he just wears this big thing over his head (not a hairnet though, something else. He's kinda weird).

My sister in law works in a deli though, and she has to wear a hairnet.

How is this a bad answer? I don't understand why I would get a thumbs down for this.

Hey! I work in an operating room and we have to wear one even if we are completely bald!! The reason being is even a bald person sheds skin cells that can end up in the patient and cause infection. So just by thinking about that I would say, as someone who loves to eat at good restaraunts, Yes! always cover your whole head. I know I wouldn't want to eat a skin cell let alone someone's hair strand! Ya know?

As a professional in the food services industry, you should put all of your hair in a net. It is not only for good health but it helps you to keep from sweating unnecessarily while laboring over a hot pot of some savory sauce. If you are looking to be a chef as your avatar would indicate, I have a great site that can help you.
