Germans are actually more disciplined drinkers than anyone I know in the U.S. and Oktoberfest starts at the end of September and usually lasts until October 3 or the 1st Sunday in October.

No country has the patent on overdrinking. It seems this pastime is big time everywhere. Cinco DeMayo was turned into a drinking holiday by the big beer companies with no regard as to it's real meaning. I am not sure what day Octoberfest starts in Munich but do a Google search on Munich to see the official day they start it. We have it in ZinZinnati in September because it used to get real cool and often wet in October and hampered it's enjoyability. Assuming Germans drink so much is a stereotype. If you want to make them out to be big drunks and ask about it as if it is a matter of fact that is o.k. You have the right to be politically incorrect and I don't think Germans care what you think. The thing is you are still stereotyping people. If you feel alright about how ignorant and racist this makes you look then it is alright with me. Have a beer on me you chicken dancing fool.

History Channel did a show about "Coffee".
They indicated that most of Western Europe drank alcohal (Beer & Wine) to purify the water. You see before water treatment facilities, water was contaminated by diesease. The furmintaion of alcohal killed much of the bacteria.
Anyways, the German's have drank lot's of beer since the about 1000 AD. October fest usually starts in August and lasts until mid November. Lots of fun!!!

Here in Wisconsin, our Oktoberfest ended this past weekend. It was a rollicking, drunken good time for all.
