I just got a drum set. I'm totally new at drums and i'm not sure how to make my snare stop rattling and how to make my toms echo less. I want it to sound like my bass drum, which has a blanket inside of it. Is it just that the toms suck or is there a trick like that? Any suggestions?

You can purchase damper pads that mount inside the drum and are adjustable. This helps with resanance. You can also try using your tuning key to lesson or raise tone. The rattle from your snare could be from your coils under the snare. There are also multitudes of skins to try. Your best bet is to make friends with an accomplished drummer and ask him for his help. Also if you have resance skins on the bottom of your toms try removing them. There are thousand of tricks and twekes that can be done. I hope this will help. "PEACE"

You just need to get a decent drummer to show you how to tune your drums and how each drum is supposed to compliment the others. Your toms should sound more hollow than the bass drum and your snare should have some rattle to it.

Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac The 'plastic puke' tale :~ song: 'Monday Morning' Keith Olsen: "first of all, for the kick drum I had Mick use a real dermis, no longer a plastic head. all of the bass drum sounds had snap and crack and heat temperature, however the snare drum on the entire album became plastic puke. We placed a bite up by the rim of the snare drum, then caught a bite of tape around the returned part of it. whilst Mick would hit the snare drum, the puke would carry up, and there'd be that magnificent, humming snare drum. Then it might flop down and would right this moment quit the snare twine damn, so it became a mechanical gate. We did no longer have a bite of rubber; it might have been too common just to get a bite of rubber. We had to, of direction, bypass to the humorous tale keep." Quoted from 'in no way wreck the Chain : Fleetwood Mac and the Making of Rumours' by Cath Carroll different Fleetwood Mac drum inventiveness {taken from the comparable e book} :~ "in the Jeremy Spencer days of the previous Fleetwood Mac, that they had close-mic'd a pencil hitting a chair to get a definite rhythmic texture." "At one time Fleetwood sought to have the sound of his leg being slapped as a rhythmic patch; whilst he got here upon the genuine element wasn't leggy sufficient, they sent for a leg of lamb from the butcher and used that rather." no longer from the e book :~ on the song 'Tusk', the various drums have been honestly Lindsey Buckingham taking part in empty Kleenex packing packing containers. Edit :~ Mike ~ it became created tremendously for the 'international Turning' solo. That solo has have been given longer with each excursion! 2d Edit :~ I forgot one! song: '2d Hand information' "additionally featured in this music is a drum fill which became performed on the returned of a chair."
