Are "they" trying to make this happen? I guess it all depends on the economy and ways of life in Puerto Rico. Becoming part of the United States could be a big change for someone if things are completely different where they are.

I feel that if the good people of Puerto Rico are good enough to fight for this country, then they ought to be able to enjoy the benifits of statehood.

No it should not. They don't want to lose their olympic team, their spanish language /culture and on top of that pay not only Puerto Rican taxes but also federal taxes
