The words that are highlighted if you click on them they bring up this sponsored ad that has web links that contain that word. Also i have this search enhancer that comes up every time i type in the search engine.

If you are not suffering any browsing problem then it is ok
the reasons are as follows
1. you installed some pug-in or adware to do it(unknowingly)
2. you are using google toolbar which has such highlighting facility
3. some one annonimously installed some monitor in you system and monitoring your activities.
4. you are using the search facility of some advanced search engines
5. if it appears only in some web pages means i.e the feature of that site only
to do
-------
1. disable all the plug-in other than JAVA, Flash and some other usefull ones
2. uninstall any search bar or adware you installed related Internet/Mail/Internet explorer
3. daily clean the cookies and internet temp files from cash
4. install spywares and anti virous to protect the pc

You have a browser hijacker that got installed on your system when you downloaded some software/game. This software takes control of your browser and tends to point you in the direction of websites that are affiliated with the software.
You can try a couple of different programs to stop it.

I would suggest download and installing each program and running them in safe mode (hit f8 repeatedly on boot to get boot menu)

Some search engines highlight the words in your results when you enter a search string or keywords.

so when the word "IS" is highlighted or anyother word it takes me to an advert
