The number is your chest measurements, and the cup represents the actual size of the breast.
Go to Victoria's Secret and have them measure you to find the right bra size, dont do it by yourself.
I think the statistic is something like 80%, but many girls wear the WRONG sized bra.
The band across the back shouldnt go up after time, it should stay straight, your breasts shouldnt be poping out of the cups and many other things.
So go somewhere and get help first. it's hard finding a bra that fits, but a good bra can keep em' from being saggy later on in life!

Go to Marks and Spencer, they can size you up properly.
They measure your chest, underneath your boobs which is the number 32, 34, 36 etc, this is inches by the way. and then they measure the cup size by measuring your chest over your boobs. These sizes are the letters A, B, C, D etc, there is a chart for determining which cup size your measurements match up to.

Bra sizes work by 2 things.
1. the size around your bust area(band), for example, my bust is size 34.
2. the size of your boobs, for example, my cup (boob) size is B.
So this clearly shows am a size 34 B.
If you are too big BUT have small boobs, you are going to wear something like, 36 A OR 38 A,B.
Some people are slim but have big boobs. lets take Pamela Anderson AS an example, someone like her might wear a size 36 DD.

letters = cup size
numbers = back measurements
i personally go to some where cheaper than boutiques as they can charge alot for a simple little thing. while there i will try on different sizes to find which is most comfotable with the best fit. although if u'v got the money to spend do go to an expensive boutique as they are more likely to get it rite than u.
remember if the number is big its jus that u hav a broad bk more than anything.

As a mere male I do think bra sizing is wrong.
Why isn't it the chest size under the breasts and then the volume of them?
Perky or floppy must make a nonsense of the present system.
BTW - We guys at school had a sizing system - egg cup, coffee cup, tea cup, soup bowl, pudding basin, Challenge cup. that seemed to work well!

do you mean how to measure yourself?
get a tape measure and measure round your back and round under your bust eg 36 inches, then do the same again but round over your bust then take away the first number (36inches) eg 36 inches = 0 inch this is a A cup, 1 = B cup, 2 = C cup and so on, but you are better to get this done at a proper shop!
