Ok so I just found out that this chick in my class is the step-daughter of our Professor! Yeah that's right, the Professor is this girl's stepmom. I thought that wasn't allowed to take a class in college that your parent is teaching?! It all makes sense now cause this Prof always picks on everyone except her, and one time her cell phone went off and even though the Prof always yells at whoever forgets to turn off their cells, she didn't yell at her.
So my main question is, is this allowed, or can I report it.

Talk to someone in administration. They will know whether it is allowed and take whatever action if it is not allowed.

I think you should report it because most schools/colleges have a "how are we doing box." Your tuition is just as worthy as the next and the Professor shouldn't be in the class yelling like she is dealing with "her" children. I believe that there is a time and a place for certain things, and it surely doesn't seem very professional by her actions. College is to prepare students for the world of work. I don't think that the Professor is being fair and she should take a look at how she presenting herself. So help her by using the "how are we doing box." After-wards, stay focused on your studies because you "will" come across Professors that will leave a "good" mark on you. Good Luck!!

If the prof has tenure, they can't do anything to her anyway.
I would chill out, or buddy up with the chick.

Look in your colleges by-laws about student-professor being kin.
BUt really, the way schools are now-a-days, they won't touch the professor and then the prof could make it hard on you if she found out.

School policy on this sort of thing varies, but I imagine that most schools would frown on this decision to enroll someone related. On the other hand, you probably won't personally be affected by this student and her mom. Even if this student gets an "A" it shouldn't affect if you do or don't get a high grade. I agree that the teacher and the daughter are not being fair to each other, but that is their karma... not yours.

You're college age and whining about whether the professor yells at students fairly?

Act your age not your shoe size. I would say report this because she aint treating everyone equally in the class. but I think you are allowed to have your parent teach a class in college and you being in it.

There probably isn't a rule against it.

You know what? LIFE isn't fair. You are going to encounter NUMEROUS situations that aren't fair.
I have teachers that play favorites, yes, it sucks, but that's life.
It's a good less for you to learn.
