Do people who use sign language see little hands in their head when they think about what somebody said, or do

they hear the words in their head?

Serious question. I think about odd things sometimes.....

My son is deaf and he uses sign language to communicate. I asked him this question a long time ago. He said that he sometimes sees the word written and sometimes he "sees" the word signed. He also says that when he dreams, he uses his voice in the dream??? I thought both answers were very amazing. I'm anxious to hear from deaf adults to find out what their answers are.
P.S. Never, ever, ever use the antique, outdated and rude saying of "deaf and dumb". There is no such thing. Deaf people are truly amazing, wonderful people and their language is beautiful. My son is so incredibly intelligent. He constantly amazes me with how kind, smart and perceptive he is. Being deaf is only a small part of him.

Footnote: to those who thought that the question was funny, I'd like to ask why?? Are you that insensitive.

I haven't used sign language in so long that you stumped me. I don't remember the hand movements, just what the person said.
