Absolutely. Sometimes we speak volumes with the things we don't say. I love the phrase "a silent understanding". It's an incredible connection when the words aren't even necessary.

I carried on a 30 minute conversation with my 8 month old daughter. You should have heard it...
her: Pppppppppppth!
me: Pthhpthththppppth!
her: Pppppfpfpffffffth!
me: pppppppppppppppfpfpfpf!
Yes, we had a rasberry conversation. Very productive.

Females do this with each other all the time! my best friend & i can be in a coffee shop and not ever stop one conversation, but at the same time be saying wordlessly, "Woah! Look at him!" "I know! He's hot!" "Do you think I should ask for his number?" "Yeah! Go for it!" :) :) :)
