My daughter is 8 months, and was pretty mobile at the beginning of her 6th month by rolling around. But she did not start crawling until the beginning of her 7th month. And then all of a sudden, she was crawling, pulling herself up to stand, and sitting on her butt by herself all within a few days!!! I think the other answer-ers got the time frames right for what's normal. Usually 5-10 months, but it is true that some babies skip crawling! At four months, the most your baby should be doing is lifting their head up, maybe rolling over, and maybe doing some "mini push-ups". Your child still has a lot of learning and growing to do before they get into that super-mobile stage! Do not worry, if your doctor thought there was ANYTHING to be concerned about, they would tell you! Good luck and try not to get too anxious! By the time they ARE crawling, you'll be wondering where the hell the time went!

This happens anywhere from 5 month-10 months. Some babies skip crawling alltogether. Crawling is the one milestone that is not predictive of future development, so people in my field do not pay to much attention to it as long as the baby is meeting all the other milestones. At 4 months your child should be either rolling over 1 way, or just about getting there. As long as your baby is doing that, then don't worry.

My daughter was about 7 months when she started crawling. At 4 months they are supposed to be learning to roll over and starting to learn how to sit up a little. Crawling isn't supposed to happen until about 6 months or so.

I am the mother of three children ages five, four and three. My daughter is the oldest and was later crawling and didn't take her first steps until 15 months. She was also born six week premature and I believe that has something to do with their development. I, personally, would not be concerned until the seven or eight month milestones. My daughter didn't enjoy "tummy time" and was slower. My son's, although, did like "tummy time" and did crawl sooner. I think that the fact they had an older sibling to mimic helped with their progression and in fact still does. Hope all goes well.

They are all different and I think four months is a little early to start to worry. One of mine liked sitting on his bottom so much that I figured he would never walk. He would just point to what he wanted and his sister would run and get it for him. He didn't take a step till he was 13 months old and didnt cut teeth till nearly 12 months old. He has grown up quite normal so I would not as yet be worried about your little one.

There is no reason to worry. Some babies aren't even rolling over at 4 months of age!Average time is 6-8 months. Boys generally start later than girls. Your baby is perfectly fine!!

At 4 months old, they're barely rolling over. Don't fret...my kids didn't crawl until 9 months and then they walked at 11 months. Some kids don't crawl at all, they just take off walking. My dad walked at 7 months and my brother at 8. Niether crawled. Your baby will start when they're ready. Don't worry.

My little one didn't start crawling until about 9 months, then almost immediately moved on to cruising and then walking by 12 months. Don't worry, it's no biggie.

Lots of babies never do crawl, they just go straight to walking... which should start happening around 10 months (by start I mean grabbing on to things and holding themselves up... not actually taking steps)
