You could put on an aftermarket exhaust, if you haven't already. Different mufflers will have different tones. And different muffler styles will make the sound change too. If you a vehicle old enough and live in a city that doesn't require emissions, you can remove your catalytic converter. It will increase horsepower and sound levels. Here is an example. On my 1991 Camaro I added racing Flowmaster. It made it louder and had a mean grumble to it. On my 94 Formula Firebird I added a magnaflow exhaust. It's not as loud as my Camaro, but it has a nice deep tone to it. On my 95 Chevy pickup I added headers(which deepend the tone), added an H pipe, and two original super 40 Flowmaster mufflers. It also sounds way nice and deep. On my friends Saturn Ion he went from one of those round straight through huge muffler to a magnaflow muffler and it went from a buzz to a deep mellow tone that sounds way good. Well good luck I hope this helped.

Hooker Headers+H Pipe+Dual FlowMasters=Great Sound. Also my suggestion end the pipes going out on the side of the car. Before the rear wheel. Have them angled down so you wouldnt see them. That's the way my brother has his 84 Monte Carlo SS is. It sounds rude. It has a Big Cam Headers, Bored out to a 355.

Better yet, how do you get a quieter tone on your car? Nobody likes those obnoxious exhausts that sound buzzy. The fact is, generating noise takes energy. That energy could otherwise be used make the car more powerful.
