Sadly, nowadays it mostly automated.
So except for changing the lights, the lighthouse runs mostly on its own.

Nobody lives in a working lighthouse in the UK nowadays.

ah ahhh!! Depending on whaT country you live in really.. Most light houses- 75% are automated.

If they also serve as weather station then there is a requirement that 3+ people are there a percent of the time... In some places it is a insurance requirement..

My father owned a light house off the coast of Maine for a while.. I LOVVED IT!!! To this day it is not automated

I read once that they always used to end up hating each other, and would never speak to each other if they could avoid it.

This is all in the past, nobody lives in a light house any more. Modern electronics have made it a thing of the past.

i did not know there was a regulation stating the number of persons who had to operate the light in a light house.

It was at least 2 but now of course they are automated and that doesn't apply!
