Of course they want Taiwan. They speak the same language(Mandarin), eat the same food(Chinese food), have the same traditions(Chinese Medicine, Chinese New Year, Mid- Autumn Day... everything). It's like comparing Alaska and US Mainland.
North Koreans speak Korean, they eat different, they act different, they celebrate different holidays. Not like Taiwan, it was almost never part of China(Taiwan was a part of China in most of China's history, couple thousand years, not short, right?, that's why they speak Mandarin). Countries like US tried to conquer it, not China(ironic, isn't it?)
Imagine Alaska wants to retreat from the States, will you take it back?

Taiwan has been part of China since Centuries ago. One political party lost a civil war and settle in the last foothold in taiwan.
It is a politcal party which wants to be independant.
North Korea is a total different country from China. Why invade it ?

taiwan and china share a common history, they only separated after the communists defeated the nationalists who then fled to taiwan. China displayed interest in taiwan long before taiwan had anything like a successful economy. china's interest in taiwan has historical roots, not (just) economical ones.

My opinion means probably nothing but I think China is somewhat behind N Korea's aggresssion.Remember when President Bush first got into office and before 911 and China took the people hostage of a plane that crashed and held them for I think it was a week, then they threatened us that if we step in to defend Taiwain they would retaliate?I think this is why Washington is unsure of what to do with N korea.I am not military but I dont believe we could handle taking on China.I really hope I am wrong but I have this gut feeling.

Yeah but think about it: Taiwanese speak Mandrin or Cantinese; N. Koreans speak Korean....How's it gonna work out for the Chinese to rule the Koreans if they can't even communicate with 'em??

Taiwan is a renegade providence of China.
It is their internal issue, and the USA needs to mind its own business.
