Give quantity discounts.

Never badmouth the competition, always offer more than the competition, whether it's in candy sales, service work, or any job. Give the people what they want.

ask people to fill out a survey of their favorite snack foods. The customers will tell you exactly what they will buy from you. I guarantee your competition is not doing this.

Find out what they love, and provide it to them- with a smile!

People will by YOU before they will buy your product.

People don't care what you know until they know that you care.

Build a good relationship with customers. Always ask how they are doing and tell them thank you. Have a special Buy 3 get 1 free or buy one get one 1/2 off. Win them over with kindness not by trying to push competition out of the way.
Make sure you present your self well, are you well groomed, good breath always smiling? Make sure you speak up ( HI HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY)? (THANKS WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT TIME) By saying saying this (see you next time) you are confirming that they will we back, without aggravating them
also ask questions like how many candy bars are you buying today? This way now they are thinking how many should I buy instead of I'll just take one.

Offer them something more than your competitors. What I mean is: have fresher product, be more friendly, offer a better selection, get to know your customers (call them by name, know their favorite candy, what their hobbies are, and etc.). There are many ways to attract and keep customers than just by price.

It's all in the presentation. You could also enlist the help of people with large numbers of aquaintances (teams, clubs, ect.) by offering group and bulk discounts.
